Mercedes-AMG GT73e:
The GT73e will be the first in a series of new Mercedes AMG plug-in hybrid models. It will be powered by an upgraded version of the GT63's 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 petrol engine mated to an electric motor, which is said to provide "significant" performance improvements. AMG sources previously told British magazine Autocar that the GT73e's electric motor will develop up to 201 hp for a total output of over 800 hp. "
An engine that produces 639 hp. the GT63 S is said to deliver "unprecedented levels of power and torque" for the AMG four-door road in electrified form. This model will compete with the Porsche Panamera Turbo S EHybrid. It will also be the spiritual successor to AMG's first model, the 300CE Hammer, which helped the company build its reputation as a manufacturer of large progressive supercars.
The P3 PHEV system will also be used in the top suspension versions of the latest MercedesBenz SClass and the upcoming Mercedes AMG SL grand tourer. It can also be used in the successor to the Mercedes AMG C63 4Matic e-engine, where it will be used in conjunction with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder in place of the larger displacement V8.
The GT73e will come with a 4.0-liter V8 mated to an electric motor; expected to produce over 800 horsepower.
