Tata Punch to have two transmission options, Four Variants with connected Car Tech - Bookings Open Soon

On October 4, the Tata Punch micro-SUV will be fully unveiled. While Tata Motors has already shown off the exterior and interior of their next smallest SUV, there are still a few features to be made official. We now have additional facts on the Tata Punch's trim and variation lineup, as well as the color options it will be supplied with, according to sources.

  • Four trim levels available.
  • Three monotone and six dual tone color schemes.
  • By mid-October, a price announcement is expected.

Tata Punch: features, variants and colour options

Tata Punch will come in four different specs: Pure, Adventure, Accomplished, and Creative. The Punch's models have a distinct nomenclature that distinguishes it from previous Tata vehicles, which include trims such as XE, XM, XT, and so on.

Three monochromatic tones – White, Grey, and Stonehenge – and six dual-tone shades – White and Black, Grey and Black, Orange and Black, Blue and White, Stonehenge and Black, and Urban Bronze and Black – are available on the Punch.

The top-spec Creative trim is the only one with dual-tone color possibilities. In the meantime, the Pure trim will only be available in White monotone. The AMT gearbox will be available on the Adventure and Creative trim levels.

However Tata has yet to disclose the Punch's full feature list, we can confirm that top-spec trims will include a floating, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7.0-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, automatic climate control, iRA connected car technology, automatic projector headlamps, and rain-sensing wipers. Dual front airbags, ABS with Brake Sway Control (BSC), EBD, electronic stability control, and a rear parking camera are among the safety features.

Tata Punch: Architecture, dimensions and Engine

The Punch is built on Tata's ALFA architecture, which also supports the Altroz hatchback, and will thus benefit from some of the ALFA's inherent features, such as 90-degree opening doors and a flat interior floor.

The Punch is planned to have a length of 3,840mm, a width of 1,822mm, a height of 1,635mm, and a wheelbase of 2,450mm. The Punch will feature an 187mm ground clearance. It will be equipped with 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and a 366-litre boot.

The Punch will be driven by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that delivers 86hp and 113Nm of torque when it goes on sale. This engine is already used in the Tiago, Tigor, and Altroz, and it will be paired with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT automatic transmission. The Punch will also offer engine start/stop capabilities to help with fuel efficiency, as well as traction modes in the AMT transmission, as seen in other larger Tata SUVs.

At a later point, the Punch could be powered with the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine from the Altroz iTurbo.

Tata Punch: Price expectation and Competitors

When the Punch is unveiled in full on October 4, Tata is anticipated to launch official bookings, but some dealers have already begun accepting unofficial pre-orders. The price will be announced around mid-October, and it is estimated to range between Rs 5.50 lakh and Rs 8 lakh.

Tata Punch: Price expectation and Competitors

The Tata Punch will be the company's new entry-level SUV, competing with high-riding hatchbacks like the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Mahindra KUV100. Higher models of the Punch will, however, compete with the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger because to their incredibly competitive cost.
